Changes to get the Firepanel to work

Post by mvr1918 »

There are 2 types of interfaces that come with the Opencockpits modules

1. USB
2. IDC

An IDC interface is used to simplify connections, i.e. all sub-panels in the Pedestal module are connected through an IDC card that again connects to a MASTER Card that again is connected to an Expansion Card that has a USB connection to the PC.

If your FirePanel connects via the Pedestal IDC card everything should be OK.

But if your FirePanel uses a USB connection:

The first thing to do is:
0. Take a backup of the OCP4NGX_v5.5P.ssi file before you continue.
1. Edit the PMDG B737.ini in SIOC folder so the MASTER line you now have in it reads:
MASTER=19,19,1,84
Note: the last number should be the number you see for the device in SIOC's device widow
This file should normally not be modified. But, if you change the USB to another USB port in your PC, you must edit the file again. The MASTER line should then be edited so the last number reflects the number you see in the SIOC Device window. Your image shows now the number as 84.

2. Open SIOC.exe from SIOC folder and click Edit Script in the SIOC window
3. Go to Files menu and Export to TXT
4. Save as OCP4NGX_v5.5Pm.txt
5. Open Notepad or another text editor and load the OCP4NGX_v5.5Pm.txt
6. Scroll down in the text file until you find the script code lines for the FirePanel. Or search for some parts of the line below
a. Var 1394, name aENG1_OVHT, static, Link IOCARD_OUT, Device 32, Output 23
7. Now change the lines for all inputs and outputs for the FirePanel in the script
a. All Device 32 should be changed to Device 19
b. All inputs and outputs should be changed to the numbers as seen below
c. Note that the naming is a little different between the script and the list below
8. Save the file so its name is OCP4NGX_v5.5.Pmod.txt
9. Open SIOC.exe and click Edit Script, then to Files and Import TXT
10. After the txt file is compiled, you save it as OCP4NGX_v5.5P.ssi

Hello Roar,

I am having some issues getting my USB fire panel to work with my set-up. I have recently built up a center pedestal. It’s a mixed bag of IDC and USB. I currently have:

P&P IDC
COM1. FIRE CARGO
COM 2. WEATHER RADAR
NAV 1
NAV 2
ATC
AUDIO 1
ADF 1

When I follow your instructions to add MASTER = 19,19,1,xx I seem to have a conflict with NAV 2. I did change my script IDX with the text editor and recompiled. Do I possible need to change input and output numbers too?

Thank you,
Aaron

P.S. I can start a new topic, but my pedestal components only seem to work with my older 4.61 script. When I configure and start the new 5.5P script, none of the P&P components work...

Good news!!! I have the fire panel working!

Not sure the exact conflict, but I changed the device IDX to 26 (FO Chrono) which I don’t have and it’s up and working. I think there may have been an issue with IDX 19 seeing as I have a NAV 2 P&P. Please chime in if I’m off base on this....

I used this in my SIOC.ini: MASTER=26,19,1,165(xx)
