Probably cause of crashes OCP4NGX (SOLVED)

Post by mneoud »

Hi Roar,

After a few weeks testing and trying different setups i finally, well in my case, pinpointed the cause of random crashes of OCP4NGX. Normally i run FSX in full screen mode and i have a setup with two nvidia cards which each have two screens connected. So in total four screens.
The the first screen is used for the virtual cockpit.
The second sreen is used by the vrinsight CDUII.
The third screen is used for my after en forward overhead panel.
The fourth screen i use for different things like voxatc and stuff.

This setup gave me never problems with the old freeware OC4BAv1 but with the new OC4BAv2 i have these OCP4NGX crashes. So after a while i started to
try different things and ran FSX in full screen mode but and did not open the forward and after overhead panel on monitor and i could complete the whole flight from start to end without any crashes from OCP4NGX.
I have flown now six flights in this way and didn´t had any crash from OCP4NGX.
The only thing is that i now constantly have to swich screens during flight with ezdok camera.

As i sad i have tested a lot and using multiple screen is what i believe the cause of the crashes, anyway in my case it is. Maybe you could ask the people who also had crashes with OCP4NGX if they are using a multiple monitor setup.

I hope this helps and hope you can find a solution to this.

BTW The last script OCP4NGX_PP_V1.0c you send me as replacement for the script with the faulty BARO knob, works fine.

Thanks for your feedback on the crash issue.

When you have time try the latest build. I believe you never got it. It is v2.4.4 vs 2.4.3 tha you now have tested.
Look in your PM box.

Hi Roar and Andy,

With the new version 2.4.4 i still get OCP4NGX crashes. If i don't open any panels on the monitors all goes well. If i open panels on the monitors i get OCP4NGX crashes.

Hope it can be solved.

Have you tested with/without VRI CDU? Could it be that one that doesn't play well with OCP4NGX?

The CDU from vri i have always running. When i don´t open any other panels all goes well. Crashes occure when i am having the forward en after overhead panel opened on a monitor.

I will try his evening to do a flight without the vri cdu and with the panels (forward en after overhead) opened on a monitor.

Hi Roar,

We can rule out the Vri CDUII as a cause of the problem.
I did not start the software for the CDU and used the first officer cdu instead. Opened the forward en after overhead panels on monitor 3. Powered up and started programming the CDU with the flight information. When got the v1 vr and v2 speeds noticed that setting the speed on the MCP was impossible because the the connection was lost, meaning OCP4NGX had crashed.
So it isn´t de VrInsight CDU but it has something to do with opening and using panels on a monitor.
