Re: Opencockpits MCPv2 Altitude Digits Stuck on 00000 (SOLVED)

Post by Wardie »

Hi Roar, good news, all my Opencockpits hardware works with MSFS and the new PMDG 737-800 (EFIS, Radio, Navs, ADF, Xponder, Overhead Panel) and my Opencockpits MCPv2 works perfectly EXCEPT the Altitude digit readout. It is stuck on 00000. The altitude rotary selector works perfectly, in the program cockpit view the selected altitude increases and decreases as the rotary selector is turned but the digital readout on the Opencockpits MCP remains stuck on 00000. I am also running P3Dv5.3 seperately and there it works perfectly using OC4BA. I tried cutting the MCP Device 15 script out of my OC4BA and pasting it into O14FS (as I had to do with my overhead which allowed it to work perfectly after being garbled originally) but still the same problem remains with the MCP. Please can I ask you for help?

Did you add the SDK lines to the 737_Option.ini file for the 800 airplane?
This is needed for all variants, They have their own option.ini file addressed by either ..736, ..737,...738, ..739
using the path information below

[SDK]
EnableDataBroadcast=1
EnableCDUBroadcast.0=1
EnableCDUBroadcast.1=1

to the file 737_Options.ini in the PMDG 738 work folder

The path to the 737_Options.ini should be ( replace roa-k with your user name)

C:\Users\{username}\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.Flight Simulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalState\Packages\PMDG-aircraft-738\work
If you have the Steam version of MSFS,
C:\Users\{username}\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft Flight Simulator\Packages\PMDG-aircraft-738\work

Hi Roar, thanks for your reply. Script has been added as stated, no problem there..... What I find confusing is that all the displays and functions on the MCPv2 illuminate and change correctly except for the altitude display and then it's only the display - the altitude select rotary input doing what it should. It's not a hardware issue as the MCP displays perfectly when I run P3Dv5.3 with PMDG 737-800. As mentioned I've transfered the Device 15 script from OC4BA into Oi4FS in the hope that it might sort it out but no luck.... the problem seems to be somewhere else? See attached image.

If the SDK lines are set correctly to the 737_Options.ini for the 737-800 airplane, the next thing to check is that you have:

Unzipped the rksoftware-oi4fsp737.zip to MSFS’s Community folder

Ii you still have issues, what is the text of the FS_PM B737.ini file?

Which rksoftware folders do you have in the Community folder?
There should not be any rksoftware zip files there. Only rksoftware folders.

Go to IOCPConsole in SIOC and check the Var 1270. Does it change when you change the hardware ALT knob and the virtual ALT knob.

Log the IOCPConsole activity to see what is going on.

My community folder only has the following folders in it, no zip files in it -

Aig-aitraffic-oci-beta
Guillermozulueta-meigs
Oi4FS_Bridge
Rksoftware-oi4fsp737

VAR 1270 in IOCPConsole in SIOC does not change at all, either with the hardware or the virtual ALT knob. It remains on 0000000000000 and does not alter.

Roar, just for the exercise I ran P3Dv5 with PMDG737 and opened IOCPConsole in SIOC and checked the Var 1270 and it was working, changed digits with change of both hardware and virtual ALT knob. Strange that it doesn't work in MSFS because the script in both P3D and MSFS for device 15 is identical......

It is not that strange that even if the script is the same, as the driver code is different, The ALT diplay is handled via a WASM module in the rksoftware in the Community folder. In order for the ALT display to work the rksoftware-oi4fsp737 folder must be in the active MSFS Community folder.
Verify and be 100% sure that the Community folder where the rksoftware folder is in is the Active one.

If problem persists:
Send me a download link to your SIOC folder via ONEDRIVE. Send to roarkrsp@gmail.com
