787 module crashed now cant restart

Post by drayton_k »

Hi Roar,

I am currently fying in the 787 and was using the module fine. After a couple of hours the module decided to crash out and stop responding. How can I restart this now,as the new version starts automatically when I select the aircraft?

If I run the OC4BAv4 from the P3d menu bar there is no option for the 787

Thanks

Good question!

The OC4B787 driver is a .dll to P3D that means it is a program extention to P3D.

So, there is no way to restart the dll than to restart the main program P3D.

But, it could also be that it is only the SIOC.exe that crashed. Have you tried to restart the SIOC.exe from the SIOC folder?

Yes, I tried the SIOC restart but this did not help.

If I have a crash with the 777 (which I seem to have a lot) I can restart this without a problem with the old method. I have never had a crash wth the 747 driver though, thats rock solid.

Thanks anyway

As I said I will look into this issue when back from holiday.

I started my long holiday 8 years ago and not sure when I will be back:)

Joke aside, no I haven't had any time for it, but I will look into it this weekend to see if something smart can be done.

Do you have crashes when using the B737 driver?
How long is a typical flight before it crashes? Both 777 and 787 flights?

Hi Roar,

I mainly stick to sub 3 hour flights. Its not every time though that the 777 or the 787 fails. The 777 is easy enough to restat the old way but the 787 I am unable to do as it uses the new way of starting it.
The 737, 747 never crash.

Enjoy your holiday ;)

Cheers

Sorry for this late reply and not so good answer to your problem.

I looked into the issue some time ago but probably forgot to get back to you at that time.

At that time I couldn't find any restart issues when running the driver.

Due to the many updates of QW787 since I wrote the driver program, I believe the issue is related to some kind of timing conflict between the driver(dll) and values of some of the Local Variables in the QW 787.

As there are almost 4 years since I wrote the driver software code and that the QW787 has had many updates since then, digging further into this issue will take too much time.

I am now deeply into development for the MSFS. There is a B787 in MSFS and I have support for it in Oi4FS. See my website for more information.
