Issues with power transfers

Post by aaronlunn »

Hello,

First I would like to thank you for the quick response to the NGXu! You make this cockpit building addiction a reality!

I am having a problem with my power transfers. I’m not sure how to fix that. For example when I try to establish ground power or switch over to APU or engine generator power through the gen buses, It doesn’t work. The switches work and I can see them move in the VC, but the action doesn’t happen. When I mouse click the switch in the VC, it moves and the action happens. I have tried both OC4BAv4 & 5 scripts provided.

Thank you for any help in this matter.

Sorry, I have found a similar situation with the landing gear. My landing gear handle throws in the cockpit and the lights change from green to red when I use my handle, but the landing gear don’t physically retract. Once again, if I use the mouse in the VC or the g key, it works. I’ve noticed too that it doesn’t recognize the gear off when an input is not being applied.

Thanks again,

Aaron

Could you try to checks as much as possible and tell if there are more issues you have.

Then I can go through the issues in my cockpit setup.

I will test in my cockpit early next week, as I am now out traveling.

Hello,

The problem with the power transfer is known PMDG and they are working on an update.
I have the same problem because both scripts 4 or 5 work perfectly in the old PMDG just not in the NGUx.

Dieter, do you have any links to this power issue?

Aaron, the gear lever issue is due to changed logic in the gear handle behavior. It is now corrected in the next update of the NGXu driver.

Hello Roar,

OK, in regards to the issues with the PMDG NGXu:

-- The landing gear issue is still a problem for me. I'm not sure if you are referring to an update that has come out or the next update TO come out. I currently have the .9661 version and the gear issue is still present. I will elaborate below.

-- Dieter, at least I'm not alone with the power transfer issues....

-- OC4BAv5 with the 4.61 script works flawlessly with the previous NGX version. Below are the issues with the NGXu version. I am running P3Dv4.5 with home built Opencockpits I/O cards for a lower OVH and Capt MIP. I also have the Opencockpits P&P FMC and Chrono.

Script 4.61
1) Grnd power light annunciator does not illuminate until after the battery switch is thrown. Script V5.0 illuminates the Gnd power prior to battery switch being thrown.

2)Gnd power switch, APU Gen switches and Gen 1 & 2 switches move and make sound within the cockpit, but do not actually transfer power in the aircraft. When using the mouse, the power IS transferred.

3) Logo light switch moves and makes sound, but does not actually turn the light on. The mouse click function works the light.

4) Aircraft with 4 landing light switches.
Taxi light switch works and actually works the light.

Retractable landing lights work when they are the only switches activated. When retractable lights used with the fixed landing
lights, the fixed light switches turn the retractable lights on and off, but do nothing with the fixed landing lights. As far as what
happens in the cockpit, all switches move and make sound, but the fixed landing lights only move to the middle position.
(Disclaimer: I only have a ON-OFF switch in that fixed light and retractable light position) All landing lights work appropriately
with mouse clicks.
Aircraft with 2 landing light switches.
Taxi light switch moves and makes sound in the cockpit and turns lights on in the wing. These appear to be the taxi or fixed
landing lights. Not sure which. Mouse click works the light.
Landing light switches move and make sound, but don't actually work any lights.

5) Landing Gear: The down function works appropriately on the VC handle and my handle. When i retract the gear, the handle only moves to the OFF position and
annunciators turn red. The landing gear do not retract. When using the G button in sim, the gear works fine and actually retracts. If the gear is in
the up position with my physical handle after using the G button, everything works fine. The OFF position works and the gear deploy appropriately.
6) Chime/ No Smoking switch: While the switch seems to be a ON-OFF-ON, the variable command only throws up/ down. Problem is that it stops in the VC at the half
position.
--Script v5.0 - The problems listed above are the same except the Grnd power illuminating prior to the battery being thrown and:
When throwing the battery switch and the emergency exit light switch, I get multiple errant switch throws in the FWD OVH.

I think I have routed out all issues with my system. FYI, I have only modified device locations and position numbers. I have not changed any scripts.

Thank you,

Aaron

P.S. My Sim Starter doesn't seem to be completely communicating with the sim either. I have added:
[SDK]
EnableDataBroadcast=1
EnableCDUBroadcast.0=1

Thanks for your list of issues with NGXu. I will have a look at it tomorrow when I am back in my Home Cockpit.

The update I was referring to was the next update of NGXu driver, the OCP4NGXu, not the official PMDG NGXu driver.
