Using two pcs

Post by xpskynet »

Hi.

I'm using two pcs with x plane 11.
One with the xp 11.10 simulator, and another one with SIOC software, and MCP/EFIS hardware.

Can I install OC4BA_XP v1.21 in the SIOC pc and move the "OC4BA_XP" folder that was created in the SIOC folder to the XPlane 11\Resources\plugin folder in the other pc?
I need XPUIPC or that it's imposible?

Thanks.

I have not tested that scenario myself as I do not see any advantage of using 2 PC. The SIOC/OC4BA's CPU cycle needs are very small. You will not have any dip in FPS by running on same PC.

I'm building a cockpit and this is my installation so far.
This is a summary. I include an image.
PC1: xplane 11 with 4 monitors for the game view. + XPUIPC
PC2: xhsi with 4 monitors vga + SIOC + XPUIPC
PC3: xhsi with 2 monitors vga
At the software level, I still do not have everything working.

My intention is to use OC4BA between PC1 and PC2, if that is possible.

What is your reasoning behing having SIOC on PC2 and not PC1 as you have your XPLANE?
That would simplify things in my view.

The reason is to have the pc1 running the game with the 4 FHD monitors that show the outside views, which is enough task for the solo.

The other 2 are to show all the interior screens of the plane and control all the instruments and leave the PC1 more resources.

I thought that this would be the best option, as it is necessary to use several pcs, so the pc1 that needs more resources would be released.

AS stated earlier SIOC and OC4BA draws almost nothing compared to XPLANE.
So if your reason is only to reduce the CPU cycle resources I would go for SIOC and OC4BA_XP on PC1.

But try it on PC2, if you want it there, it could work

It's been a while since I put this message but I could not do anything until this week.
I tried using oc4ba_xp with sioc on pc2 and the network xplane directory on pc1.
The installation ends without errors, the plugin appears in xplane on pc1 but if I run the program oc4ba_xp.exe it gives me an error.

I show the error in the 3 images that I upload.
Do I do something wrong? or, is it not going to work with 2 pcs?

I almost forgot, the pc1 has win10 and the pc2 win7.

Regards.

I have not tested it with 2 PCs, so I really do not know. I see no reason for using 2 PCs to unload CPU for better XPLANE smoothness and FPS.

As SIOC and OC4BA_XP draws less than 1% CPU cycles, it means that if you have 30 FSP without OC4BA_XP it will have 29,7 FPS with OC4BA_XP running.

So, in practice you will not see any reduction in smoothness and FPS

Glad you got it working OK on just 1 PC.
